Patrick Steenberge
Patrick’s powerful message and presentation is based on his personal journey, producing the first-ever American Football Game on the continent of Africa, as detailed in his book: Tupande Kileleni.
A native of Erie, PA, High School All-American at Cathedral Prep, Patrick Steenberge played quarterback and lettered two seasons under Coach Ara Parseghian at Notre Dame, while earning his marketing degree.
Under his leadership, Global Football Inc has created and managed events in 29 different countries, on 6 continents since 1996. The organization has served over 400+ teams, and included over 20,000+ travelers.
Events have ranged from the NFL Global Junior Championship at Super Bowls from 1997 to 2007, the Aztec Bowl in Mexico from 1997 to 2007 and the Tazón de Estrellas since 2009. Global Football staged the first-ever game of American football game to be played between two college teams on the African continent when Tanzania hosted the Global Kilimanjaro Bowl in 2011. The Global Ireland Football Tournament that began in 2012 attracted more than 25,000 spectators to three venues in and around Dublin, and now 32 different high school and college teams from the United States, Canada, and Great Britain have traveled with Global Football to the Emerald Isle for the annual GIFT event. Through the GIFT experience, the world’s largest amateur athletic association, the GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) asked Steenberge to assist with efforts for the 2014 Croke Park Classic, featuring Penn State and University of Central Florida.
While Steenberge has orchestrated football/sports tours to 29 different nations, it includes the only NCAA D1 football team to play in China, in 2018. He partnered with JAFA to create and produce the Notre Dame Japan Bowl, with a ND Legends team led by head coach Lou Holtz. In 2003, he introduced the Notre Dame Football Fantasy camp, providing dreamers with the chance to live their fantasy of actually playing football at Notre Dame. A similar fantasy camp was established at Penn State in 2006. Patrick also helped coordinate the Notre Dame Alumni Football Team Tour and Game in Hamburg, Germany in July 2000.
He is a noted public speaker, most recently representing the American Football Coaches Association to the group’s largest sponsor, Amway. Uniquely, he is equally adept at providing these high-energy presentations in Spanish as well as English.
Patrick has developed working relationships with the top football organizations in the world, including: American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), NFL International, NFL Super Bowl Host Committees, USA Football, Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc., International Federation of American Football (IFAF), European Federation of American Football (EFAF), Mexican Federation of American Football (FMFA), Japan American Football Association (JAFA), National Football Federation of Canada (NFFC), Tanzanian Sports Council, and many others.
The inspiring message of ‘Tupande Kileleni – Let’s Climb to the Summit Together,’ will resonate with your group on every level. Patrick provides a charismatic delivery of the trials and tribulations, of producing an event of this magnitude, in a country that had never experienced an American Football game. Uniting top College programs from the U.S. and Mexico, and assembling a Global team of professionals and volunteers, all committed to this extraordinary goal, is the heart of Patrick’s memorable presentation. Your event participants will leave with a renewed sense of strength and dedication to their goals and dreams, ready to apply the successful methods that Patrick introduces.
